Three Studies of Retention (on memory)
   

Monochromous hue of darkness and ambiguity, and the sensual, seductive nature of velvett are used to highlight the psychic play of ‘memories’ within us. The three words visually suggest the operative mechanisms (and tensions) of memories, when either, simply ‘kept’, or ‘held’, forcefully ‘gripped’ (and its violence thereof).
Size: relief triptych with 39”X 46” each.
Medium: hand embroidery, appliqué and stuffing on velvet fabric, iron armature, mounted on canvas.
